Technothlon: An International School Championship for Young Minds
Technothlon is an international school championship organized by the student fraternity of IIT Guwahati. Since its inception in 2004, Technothlon has aimed to "Inspire Young Minds" and has grown exponentially over the past 15 years.
The championship spans over 2 rounds, starting with the Prelims. This is a written preliminary examination that takes place in numerous schools all over India in August. The exam is designed to test students' logical and analytical thinking skills, with sections like math, puzzles, and code crunchers. This year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Prelims will be held online and students will participate individually.
The top 50 students from each squad then proceed to the Mains, an event-based competition conducted during Techniche, the Techno-Management Festival of IIT Guwahati. Mains consists of challenging events that test participants' innovation, creativity, and imagination. No prerequisite knowledge is required, as any additional knowledge needed is taught to the students. The winners of Technothlon are determined based on their performance in these events.
Technothlon stands out by not requiring any special preparation or prerequisites for the exam. It aims to develop critical thinking and analytical skills among students, allowing them to enjoy the beauty of the creative and analytical process involved in solving puzzles.
